Scott Abernathy is a native of the Middle Tennessee Area, just outside of Nashville. He bought his first rental property at the age of 22 in 1989 while still serving in the United States Air Force. While continuing to add to his real estate holdings, Scott attained his Bachelor of Science Degree from Middle Tennessee State University, with a minor in Real Estate, in 1994. After graduation, Scott sold homes for Coldwell Banker for the next 13 years, where he continued to acquire rental properties and began managing properties for clients. In 2007 Scott was hired to be the managing broker of a local Prudential Franchise and develop their property management division. Unfortunately, this firm did not survive The Great Recession, so in 2010, he partnered with Reliant Realty, forming Reliant Property Management. In 2017 Scott franchised his company and is now operating three offices: Property Management Inc., PMI Professionals, PMI North Alabama, and PMI of Memphis, where he and his team manage over 900 mostly scattered-site homes and several community association associations.
Scott has been a member of NARPM since 2006 and has served on the Nashville Chapters board of directors, including the 2010 President, served as the National Government Affairs Chairman, Atlantic Regional Vice President, National Treasurer, and is currently the 2021 National NARPM President.
